“DICK IS DEAD”
Former will known alderman died at the falls
Word was received here today of the death at Niagara Falls early this Morning of Richard Williamson, a former well known Hamiltonian and a member of the City Council for several years. Mr. Williamson, or “Dick” as everyone called him was here a week ago renewing old acquaintances and his death was sudden and unexpected. Cancer is said to have been the cause.
Mr. Williamson is a bother of Thomas Williamson, city sewer Forman. He is survived by a widow and family.
The deceased was particularly well known in the north end of the city. For many years he represented Ward 5 and was one of the first to agitate for the improvements of the North End Park. He was engaged in the ice business here and was also interested in freight carrying on the lakes. He at one time owned the ill-fated Straubeuzie off which Capt. Corson was drowned recently in a collision on Lake Erie. He also owned the schooner St. Louis and had an interest in the old propeller St. Magnua.
Mr. Williamson’s bother left for the falls to-day.
