He first shows up in Orange Co., VA. in the late 1700’s (ca 1785) Two son’s Joseph and James married two sister (Clemmons or Clemens) in VA before moving to Bourbon Co. and Harrison Co., KY between 1800 and 1810. Joseph’s son henry is the one who moves to indiana around 1833 and settles in the Greensburg, Deatur Co., area.
Spencer is an enigma - we Have never been able to connect him to a father. He may have started using a middle name or a different first name. The best I can do is “Pierce Mozingo” who had a land grant near Orange Co., VA. If they were the same man, then I believe he came from Richmond Co., VA. Not sure.
