Orapa Pemberton died May 4, 1877, four miles south of Greensburg, of congestion of the brain. She was born in Harrison county, Kentucky March 2nd, 1814 and moved to this state in September 1836, with her parents, James Mozingo, who settled near Smyrna, this county. She united with the Christian church in Kentucky at an early age. After removing to this state, she joined the Separate Baptist church, of which she remained a member until her death, in all a member of the church for about 46 years. She was married in March 1846 to Thomas C. Pemberton, who died February 1857. Since his death she has lived near the old homestead. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. R. Pond, at Sand Creek Baptist church. The community lost by her death a faithful christian and mother. She leaves a large circle of relatives to mourn her loss.
