aug. 19, 2010

My parents are marie and george ruzicka. you have a web page with a picture
of my mom on it which I took of my mom on my brother's harley.
i can add some information to that page for you.. as well as a photo of my
dad, George Ruzicka.

my dad, george louis ruzicka died march 2, 2009. cod was a heart attack
following snow shoveling his way out of the last snow storm of that winter.
his date of birth was aug 29, 1923. He was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and
came to this country with his parents as an infant on the ship Aquitania.
He was a WWII Army veteran and a 40+ year R&D man with Bell Telephone
Laboratories.
He married my mother, Marie A. Wescott (Carlson) on June 16, 1945.
The name Carlson is fictitious. Her father Walter Eldridge Wescott
abandoned his wife and children in 1935 or 36, except for my mother, marie,
age 12, whom he brought to N.J with him, giving her a new last name,
Carlson. I have old documents including her marriage certificate which
confirm both names belong to her. Under fear of harm to herself and her
family left behind, she kept his lie till 1968 when my Dad, working on a
Bell Labs project in Wisconsin, convinced her it was time to find her
Wescott siblings left behind in Minnesota. There was a wonderful reunion in
Minn. in 1968.

marie a. wescott ruzicka, born aug 19, 1923, the daughter of walter e.
wescott of wilernie, minn, and alice chrisham feels she survived her
significant childhood losses, thanks to the strength of her Wescott and
Crisham genes. marie, age 87 today, currently lives at grace park assisted
living (facility) in stroudsburg, PA, and is doing very well.

i am her daughter, marcia ellen ruzicka marcantonio, born apr. 11, 1946
my parents have a son, steven george ruzicka, born dec 31, 1948.

i married dominick b. marcantonio on feb 19, 1966. (now divorced)
we have 2 children:
anthony dominick marcantonio, born may 21, 1967
nicole denise marcantonio, born june 2, 1969.

nicole marcantonio married william wendel gunning (july 12, 1997) to be
supplied)
they have one son:
liam gunning, born sept 22, 2001.

my brother has 4 children:
carly jane ruzicka (tragically deceased, age 17, bone cancer)
jesse ruzicka (married, one daughter) (2 children
brandy ruzicka ( 2 male children)
ashley ruzicka (married last Oct)

jesse married sandra grau
they have one daughter, carly

there's more lineage in these descendants, of course, but i'll send that
later in time if you'd like to have it.

i've attached dad, mom and my grandfather walter wescott, whom we knew as
grandpa carlson.
btw, i believe he had one child with beatrice lehman who should be added to
your data base, but i'll confirm this before filling you in on it.

looking forward to hearing from you and what you might desire that i can
provide.

best wishes, marcia ruzicka marcantonio

My wife’s name is Cynthia Njus Egeness Hanson, born Cynthia Kay Egeness April 28, 1958.  I am searching genealogy information for Cindy and my stepchildren, Abby and Kyle.  Do you have genealogy information of Cindy’s ancestors?  Cindy’s father’s name is Ruthford “Jeff” Grant Egeness, born March 13, 1911, died February 13, 1993.

Some information I am seeking includes information about the brothers and sisters of August Egeness, Andreas Olsen Egeness, Anna Olsdatter Bergsetter, and their ancestors.

I have attached a picture of the August and Hilda Egeness family.

Thank you,
Michael Hanson

GG Grandfather, Knudt Johnsen BAEVRE
Death: 27 Okt 1894. Age  77
GG Grandmother,Lisbet Olsdatter SOGGE,
Death: 9 juni 1871, Stangvik, Norway. Age 53 1/2
Burial: 14 juni 1871, Stangvik, Norway

Do you know that you probably have a number of cousins in USA related to yuor G Grandfathers oldest brother John Knudsen, born in 1843.
John Knudsens wife was Bertha Iversdotter, b 1854 in Gloppen, Norway, and there was 3 children in the marriage:
1. Conrad Emil born 20 July 1887
2. Jenny Berntine Elisabeth b. 15 Aug 1889
3. Klara Randine, b. 16 Jan.1892

John Knudsen was fireman on the trade Bergen (Norway) - NY, his temporary adress
in Amerika was Jersey City. In 1901 the 11:th of June Bertha and the children left
Bergen on the ship Hekla (Skand Amerika pp) – destination: Jersey City. Bertha and
the children arrived Ellis Island at the 28:th of June - all of them in god health; the
ticket was payd “by husband John”
From 1910 USA Federal Census. Household members:
John Kundsen 66,
Bertha Kundsen 54,
Konrad E Kundsen 22,
Jennie K Jacobsen 20,
Avent B Jacobsen 28,
Jacob A M Jacobsen 3,
Clara E B Jacobsen 8/12,
Rasmus Jacobsen 24.
Jennie K Jacobsen was married to Avent B Jacobsen in 1909 (http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?s...&merk=2394#ovre)
I don´t know yet but a guess could be that Jacob A M Jacobsen 3 years and Clara E B Jacobsen 8/12 are children of Jenny and Avent … Even if Jenny was a very young mother then …
You know any nice site where to get information for free – should like to find out more about John Knudsens family, his children, grandchildren …
There is still some missing on the family – but piece comes to piece – You know if your G Grandfather John K Hilbak was in contact with his sister or brothers or if he had some photos from them??? Ole Knudtsen, b. 1859, the youngest brother is hardest to get, he moves around a lot …
Kind regards and hope to hear from you

Hello Bill,

Sorry it has been forever in getting back to you. I get wrapped up in life or get quite slack and things get away from me or can't find the time.

It is amazing what you can find on the internet. There is no telling what people can find out about you too.

What kind of information were you looking for?

My grandparents (George & Marie Ruzicka) are still alive. They live in Chester NJ. As I said, I heard stories from my dad. I think Marie & her family were in MN, and for whatever reason her father took her and they left. It doesn't make much sense & I never got the full story. I don't know how she wound up in NJ. She has siblings, but I'm not sure how many & who or where they are.

George & Marie have two children, my dad Steve & Marcia. Marcia has 2 children. I'm not sure how many grandchildren. My dad & mom had four of us. I'm not sure when my grandparents got married. Marie's birthday is in August. I have no idea of dates. I would have to ask my dad. She is 85??

I can find out their birthdates & wedding date. I know that my grandpa worked for Bell Laboratories and I think my grandmother went to Parson's School of Design. She talks about it and has some amazing stories. She is really a brilliant woman.

My family & I are heading to NJ for Thanksgiving and hoping to see my grandparents. Maybe I could ask her directly anything that you were interested in knowing.

I have a profile on Facebook. There are a lot of Ruzicka's & Wescott's on there. Not sure if any of them are related to us!

Let me know what kind of information you're interested in.

Hope to hear from you soon. Sorry again for taking so long.

I have been investigation Eliakim Wescott and family. They are buried at the 'Wescoat Cemetery in Standish Maine. I have been trying to find out why the stone engraver didn't spell it Wescott, he chipped Wescoat.  Any idea's? I'm married to Jeff Stuart and his grandmother Eva was a Wescott. So this project of finding more about the family has been fun.

Laura Ingalls Wilder drew from experience when she penned her classic book series Little House on the Prairie. As a child, Laura's family were pioneers who moved around the west and she attended school in many different states. It is interesting to note that she didn't begin writing the popular series until she was in her 60's. Her lineage can be traced back to the Mayflower's Richard Warren and other early colonial New England families.

I do not have a web site but I am looking for any information about the Wescott line in Penobscot, ME. My great grandmother was Matilda Eva Wescott, daughter of Robert Presley Wescott and Anna Maria Herrick. Robert was the son of Robert Presley Wescott Sr. and Sarah Grindle. This Robert Presley Wescott was supposedly the son of Andrew Wescott b 16 Feb 1768 in Penobscot, ME. Any information that you can give me would be appreciated. Elaine Peterson McDonough

Hello!

Thank you for your good homepage.

I'm doing research on my relative, and I'm looky after a Ole Knudsen Hyllbakk. He was John Hyllbakk's brother. He lived in Trondheim with his sister Ingrid, and in the 1900's he lived in Finnmark as a fisherman. Do you have any information about him, about where and when he died and maybe a picture?
I have contact with the relatives of Ingrid Hyllbakk, but she does not know either.

Bill, great looking site!  I'm currently researching the descendants of Frederic Fuller of Providence (by way of Attleboro and Rehoboth, MA) and found Leonard F. Fuller, Sr. on your site, along with a great deal of interesting information.  My own grandfather worked for "Ma Bell" (AT&T) back in the 30's, and my dad used to tell me he was already experimenting with photo transmission in the labs...

A question.  Leonard Fuller was married to Lucretia R. Strong in the 20's and 30's, according to census records, and one of his great grandsons, Jim Brown, who also has a family tree posted.

I'm assuming that Eleanor Pearl Rideout may be a 2nd wife, especially as she seems to have been someone that Dr. Fuller would have met at work.

Are you aware of Lucretia's marriage to Leonard Fuller?  I have it as 22 Jun 1912, from Rhode Island marriage records, although I'm not sure if the marriage itself took place in RI, or the record of it, as his father was from Rhode Island.  It does appear that Mary Esther Fuller was born in RI, the two boys in CA.

Martin Hanoian and I are assembling the records of Fuller descendants for a summer resident camp, YMCA Camp Fuller, named for one of the Frederic Fuller ancestors of Leonard Fuller.  We're also in hopes of organizing a Fuller Family reunion at a future date, to be held at the camp's Wakefield, RI site, so if you or other family members would be interested, please let us know.

From your family tree, I would guess you are 'connected' more to Eleanor Rideout than Leonard Fuller.

Thank you.

Bill,  Your records show John Pemberton.  He was indeed a private in the American Revolution. However, his parents were Thomas Pemberton and Rebecca Wingfield  His father was not John. I would very much like to know the reference to a John Pemberton who died 1815 and is buried in Sand Creek.  I suspect this is not correct. At that time, John, the Rev War soldier was in Lincoln Co. KY.
My findings are included at the post for SAR http://graves.inssar.org/P/pembjohn.html

Hi Wescott relatives. I'm involued in a DNA project linking maternal grandmothers. Seek information on the wife of Samuel Wescott Jr. born in 1776. His daughter was Hannah born in 1805. Can find no list of his family or wife's name. Census records only show location (Brooksville, Me. area) and sex and ages of family members. Staff at the Brooksville Library and Hist. Society have checked all records to find this family too. I've been searching old newspapers recently. This family seems to have dropped off the end of the earth. HELP. Pat Corey

Subject: Payne Genealogy

I saw your query on the Jefferson County newsletter. I have a Samuel ALTON, son of Lawrence and Elizabeth ALTON, B. 6 Oct 1831 in Brownville, Jefferson Co., NY. I have a baptism record for him from St. Payl's Episcipal Church in Brownville. No parents are listed, but I believe it is him. I found a marriage record showing a Samuel ALTON marrying and Elizabeth PAYNE 31 Dec 1858 in Lisbon, Waukesha Co., WI. Could she be related to your PAYNE family? The parents names were not on the marriage record, unfortunately.

Samuel moved from Brownville abt. 1844 with his parents and settled in Hartford, Washington Co., WI. There is a Elizabeth ALTON who D. 30 Oct 1868 and is buried in Union Cemetery in Hartford. Was this Elizabeth PAYNE? There is no obituary available for her as the newspapers for some of the 1860s did not survive.

The 1860 Census lists Samuel and Elizabeth in Hartford. The 1870 census lists Samuel with wife, Elizabeth and daughter, Eugenie, age 9. I believe this is Samuel with his second wife, Malissa, and daughter by Elizabeth PAYNE as it gives their marriage date as Oct 1869. Maybe Eugenie told the census taker her mother's name was Elizabeth? Soon after they moved to Pierce County, WI and no more mention is made of Eugenie.

I don't know if any of this connects with you, but thought it was worth a try.
747. Janet Russon, http://genforum.genealogy.com/throne/messages/27.html.
I have 3 marriage records for 2 sons of Samuel and Elizabeth Thorne, though they spelled it Thrown - no matter. Also a marriage of Elizabeth Thrown to my 3 g grandfather, Lawrence Alton (name was Alltimes in Ireland). He had been previously married to an Elizabeth who he married in County Limerick, Ireland. They had children: Christopher, Daniel, Michael, Joseph, Richard, Valentine, Samuel and Phoebe Ann. The first 6 were born in Limerick. All settled in Hartford, Washington Co., WI. Lawrence's first wife, Elizabeth, died 4 Apr 1853 in Hartford. We then find him marrying Elizabeth THROWN in Merton, Wauseka Co., WI (next to Washington Co., WI) 14 Sep
1853. Neither of their parents were listed. James Donelly, same person who married Abraham and George Throne, married them. Lawrence Alton died in Hartford in 10 Dec 1856. What happened to Elizabeth Throne Alton? There are no in tact newspapers for Hartford, Washington Co., WI for the years that she and Lawrence died, and no death certificates. I called and spoke with the Lisbon, Waukesha Co., WI librarian and she sent me typed copies of marriage records of Abraham and George W (or H) Thrown. Parents on each were Samuel Thrown and Elizabeth Thrown. Both were farmers residing in Merton,Waukesha Co. Abraham born in America, George born in Erie Co., PA. Abraham md. Lydia Cross, dau. of Able Cross. N/A in place for Lydia's mother's name. Abraham md. 14 Oct 1853 in Merton, WI. George md. Mary Naun 6 Jul 1854. Her parents Henry and Mary Naun. Abraham mar. Vol. 3, number 13 and George Vol. 3, number 28 Waukesha marriages. I could send you the typed copies of these marriages and original of Lawrence Alton and Elizabeth Throne or you could look for them in FHL or some Wisconsin library that would have originals.

Alos, they sent me a typed copy of the marriage of Samuel Alton, of Hartford, Washington Co., son of Lawrence Alton, though no parents given. He md. Elizabeth Payne, no parents given, on 31 Dec 1858 in Lisbon, Waukesha Co., WI. Marriage performed by Elisha Pearl, who resided in Lisbon. Does anyone know any more about Elizabeth Payne and Samuel Alton? There is an Elizabeth Alton buried in Hartford, Washington Co. who I believe was Elizabeth Payne. She was B. abt. 1834 and died 30 Oct 1868. The 1870 Washington Co. census lists Samuel with his new wife and daughter, Eugenie, age 9. There are no more records about Eugenie, probably daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Throne. Could some of Throne family adopted her?

I hope we can exchange information on these families.
