Don was born in a log cabin, one quarter mile west of the old Kuno store on Manning Trail N. and 193rd near Big Marine Lake. The Post Office now is Marine on the St, Croix. Don wrote a book about his life in the FBI. Don had one brother, Erwin who lived in Omaha, Nebraska and worked for NW Bell Telephone company.13
