Page 553, 555, He served in Captain Benjamin Walcott's Company, Colonel Thomas Regiment in the Revolution. He spent that terrible winter of 1777 and 8, in the huts of “Valley Forge,” fought at Monmouth and at Saratoga; witnessed the surrender of Burgoyne and was honorably discharged after a service of about three years. He settled on a part of his father’s farm, it being the same afterwards owned by his son Thomas; now owned by Orrin Leavitt. He was a pensioner and died on his farm16
