Town clerk 6 years; Proprietors’ Clerk from 1727 until old age; Selectman 1721 - 1742, except one year; often moderator. As lot layer, he laid out most of the town. In 1726 divine service was held alternately in his home and in Col. Westbrook’s home at Dunstan. In 1728 he was of the committee to build the meeting house. The Portsmouth South Church minister baptized in Scarborough 25 May 1722 Samuel, Sarah, James and John76
