55Was named for his maternal grandfather Eliakim Wardwell of York. During the Rev War, Eliakim served in Capt. Sullivan’s company and also in Capt. George Haslem’s company, the latter being his brother -in-law. He was “taken prisoner while serving in the crew of a prize brig captured by the schooner General Putnam, privateer”. In 1791, he purchased the 100 acre lot #55 in the 2nd division in Standish, located on Standish Neck bordering the Presumpscot River and the Falls, afterwards known as “Wescott Falls”. Ten years later he purchased the 100 acre lot #53 located nearby to his initial purchase. His son Daniel was made administrator of his estate. Page 320
