Page 30, Thomas BRACKETT, son of Anthony the emigrant, came to Falmouth-Portland- prior to 1662. He lived on the homestead on Clark's Point that came to his wife Mary MITTON, from her grandfather, George Cleves, the first settler of Falmouth, Maine. He was killed by the Indians, Aug. 11, 1676, at Clark's Point and his wife and children were carried off by the Indians, and she died within a year. Her children returned to Portsmouth, N.H. The childen of Thomas and Mary MITTON BRACKETT:
1. Joshua, born in Falmouth, Me. in 1671, married Mary WEEKS, settled in Greenland, N.H. and died there June 19, 1749
2. Samuel, born in Falmouth, Me. Apr. 27, 1672, settled in Berwick, Me.
3. Sarah, born in Falmouth, Me in 1673, married John HILL of Portsmouth, N.H.
4. Mary, born in Falmouth, Me, married Chirstopher MITCHELL of Kittery, Me in 1708.
In 1665, Thomas received a deed from his mother-in-law, Elizabeth HARVEY, widow of Michael MITTON, of fifty acres of land, for the love she bore Thomas Brackett, who married my daughter, Mary MITTON. In 1671, he received a deed from Elizabeth Harvey, widow- her second husband had died- for natural love and parental affection that she beareth her son-in-law, Thomas Brackett and Mary his wife, and also in consideration, that he engages to maintain her in meat and drink, apparel, housing and lands purchased by her first husband, washing, lodging and all other things necessary and convenient for during my natural life. In consideration, her son-in-law, has the housing and lands purchased by her first husband, Michael MITTON, of her father George Cleves, all land on the neck, dwelling house, out housing, tillage, wood, ect. all cattle, young and old and all household stuff, but said Thomas is not to sell any land, without consent of his wife, and if his wife died he is to enjoy the use for his life and at his death to go to his children. As late as 1727, the court gave administration in Thomas Bracketts estate to his son Joshua and in 1728, the court gave him administration on the estate of his grandfather, Michael MITTON, who died in 1660142
