Notes for Forest Archibald CHRISTIAN
For fun tonight, I googled Boal Anderson Thompson Iowa, and came across your website.

I am one of the grandsons of Boal and Helen Anderson, and my mother, Theodora Alica Christian, is one of Boal and Helen's children, she is 93 years old, lives independently, more or less in Foley, Alabama where she has lived since October 1, 1944.

My father, Forest Archibald Christian, was a lawyer in Foley from 1944 until his death in the early 1980's.

He was born in/near Opheim, Montana, Nov 11, 1914.

My father's side of the family was from the northern part of Iowa, and also had large farming operations in Montana.

We are related to the Blikkens of Michigan, Elmer Blikken having married my great aunt, Lillian Drugsvold sometime in the 1970's, I think it was, and they lived in Clear Lake, Iowa.

A large part of the family was from the Clear Lake area and surrounding territory, and of course not far from Thompson.

Since I doubt there are a passel of Boal Andersons who have resided on the planet, I am fairly certain we are discussing the same Boal.

My understanding, from my mother, is that Boal changed the family's name from Egeness to Anderson, since there were 'so many' Egenesses around whre they lived, and the mail was being misdelivered.

So, being the genius he must have been, he changed the name to Anderson, a name which is hardly in use anywhere (rolling my eyes here).

Grandpa was a blacksmith among other things.  Grandma Helen made the best sugar cookies I have ever had, I can still taste them to this day (I am 64 years old).

I have one brother who lives in Colorado.

Thanks for giving me an insight into another branch of the family.

Not many of the old timers left, I think Mom is the last of the Anderson children still alive. Most of the brothers died in their late 50's or early 60's, farmers for the most part.

This is a bit disjointed and rambling, but I just put down a few thoughts which may give you a snapshot of the family from my perspective.

Since my family was from the Gulf Shores, AL area (10 miles north of the beach) we didn't get up north for visits very often, so our direct contact with the family had been limited to only a few short visits over the years as I grew up.

I live in Iowa City, been here since 1964, came up from Alabama for college and just got stuck, married with 2 grown kids.392
