Notes for Elisha INGERSOLL
captured by Indians in his youth, returned to Kittery 25 May 1695. in 1715 his father deeded his Stroudwater homestead to him and his brother in law Chapman, both making their homes on it. Elisha was dubbed “Governor Ingersoll” because he was already at Stroudwater when Moody and his soldiers resettled Falmouth Neck in 1716. Drowned in the Presumpscot March 1722. His wife Mary survived him but in 1729 three daughters held his estate when they sold the Stroudwater Mill privilege.76
