Hugh Gunnison, according to tradition, was born in Sweden about 1610. He was in Boston in 1634, a vintner, “servant to Richard Bellingham.” In 1651 he sold his inn, called “King’s Arms,” and brew house and moved to Kittery, here he kept an ordinary in 1652. He was Deputy to General Court and Associate Judge of the Court of Common pleas. He is last mentioned 4 July 1659 and died before 20 July 1660.
