76James appears to be the son of William and his first wife, name unknown, based on court documents ordering him to return certain items to his mother-in-law (stepmother) Catherine Matthews Papers filed at the Rockingham County Court House in NH - I have photocopy "Province of New Hampshire} To James Durgin of Oyster River Whereas Katherine Durgin your mother-in-law has administered upon the Estate of your late father Wm Durgin dec'd. and hath ehibited an Inventory unto the Secretaryes Office of said Province of the said Deceased Estate most of which is said to being (-----) Custody or hath comed to your hands or same for you and yours refuse to deliver the same to the Administratrix as (Complt? sp) is made unto me. These are therefore to cite or summons you to appear before me Wm Partridge, Esq Lieut Gov of said Province on Tuesday the twentieth day of April instant at 12 of the clock of the same day at my dwelling house in Portsm then and there to answer to the (-----) abovemnentioned or what shall be (-----) objected (-----) you by Katherine Durgin Administratirix as aforesaid or any on her behalf hereof you are not to fail as you will answer the (-----) at your perill Given under my hand and seale the 12th of of April 1703.
