Col. Rideout entered the US Army in 1914 as a private in the Horse Cav. of the Ca. Army National Guard, and rose to the rank of Sgt.Major and was promoted to 2nd Lt. while overseas in WW!. on return he was assigned to Gen. Patton’s Staff as g-2. in 1932 he transferred back to the CA National Guard.
During WWII he was reactivated and was assigned to the Staff G-2 staff of Gen. Joseph Weinwright In the China Burma India theater and promoted to LT. Col. and was TAD’d as G-2 advisor to Gen. {Chang Ki Shic(sp?)}. He was promoted to Col. 1946 and retired 1952 in the Rank of brevit Brig. Gen.
