Daniel Hobart served under Washington in the Revolutionary War and was killed at the Battle of White Plains, Oct.28, 1776, in the 28th year of his age.
Daniel Hobart in 1775 entered the Revolutionary war as a Corporal in Capt. Galis’ Co. which was raised in the town of Ashurnham, MA. He remained in service that year when he was honorably discharged.
In June 1776 he again joined the army, enlisting in Capt. Joseph Flints’s Co. of Col. Lohman’s Regy. Mass. contingent, msrching by way of Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT to New York, where the Regiment joined the army under Washington. At the Battle of White Plains, 28 Oct. 1776 Daniel was mortally wound by a musket ball and died on the field of battle. Length of service on this enlistment was 11 days/
