The information provided by Dennis Brassard is taken from Crowell's book on early settlers to Barrington. David's oldest son, "Capt David Smith" was born to David's first wife, Sarah Hamlin. David moved from Chatham to Barrington Township sometime between 1764 and 1767 when he was a Grantee in Barrington Township; the lands assigned to him were at the North end of Sherose Island. In 1793, David, who was a carpenter, sold lot No. 95 of the Second Division at Green Hill to Isaac Wilson. The deed was witnessed by his son, Jesse. David's second wife, Thankful, herself a widow, bore him at least six more children. David died in 1795 at the age of 75.640
