Page 1, It is of record that Richard, William and Daniel Wescott were brothers, emigrants from England, 1635-6, that Richard and William were in Newton, (Watertown), Massachusetts, in 1636, in which year they went to Wethersfield, Connecticut (see Stuckley Westcott genealogy, 1939, vol. II, pages 394-5), and Maria, wife of Daniel Wescott was a witness in court at Marblehead, Massachusetts, in 1646.
While there has not been found an authentic record of the issue of Daniel and Maria wescott, it is probable that the Daniel, Richard and William Wescott who were in Portsmouth on February 20, 1690, when, with others, they petitioned protection by the Massachusetts Bay Colony, were their sons, deriving their Christian names from their father, Daniel, and uncles, Richard and William. It will be noted that these names prevailed not only in the second generation, but in the third and forth generation as well.
Also it is of interest to note that the succeeding generations of the family migrated from Marblehead or Newton, to Portsmouth, thence to Kittery, Yorke, Scarborough, Falsmouth, Gorham, Castine and other Localities in Maine.

Came from Torrington "hot bed of Puritanism' with his brothers, Hugh Parsons, the Hills and some Waites.
"Three brothers, Richard (who was the oldest, living approximately 1588 to 1651), William, and Daniel were born in Great Torrington, Barnstaple Bay near The Field of Wescote in the Devon area of England. They arrived in America in 1635, prior to the arrival of their uncle, Stuckely Westcott. Much research has been done on Stuckely and his family and we are able to "latch" on to that. (See STUKELY WESTCOTT - FIRST GENERATION IN AMERICA, Talk by Eleanor Wescott Trismen, August 8, 1964.) There is some question as to the exact relationship of the brothers to Stuckely (uncle, brother?) but the majority of agreement, because of their ages, is that they were his nephews."
