641Born in England, Edward emigrated to Mass sometime before 1704 when he married Elizabeth Snow. In the records, Edward is called a "weaver", a "dealer" or "trader", and was identified as being involved in many land transactions, including the purchase of land in Harwich on 27 Jun 1705. Edward's first wife, Elizabeth Snow, died before 1713, when he remarried. In 1725, Edward built a house on what is now the main road from Orleans to Harwich and Chatham. The house was of a good size and in the style of those erected by the more wealthy class of the time- two stories in front and one at the rear. He died in 1743 at the age of 63, leaving a good estate. After providing for his wife, Deborah, he divided his estate among his four children, naming his son, Jonathan, as executor. At the time of his death, he had six black slaves, three male and three female, valued at 98 pounds.
